Consider renting a table for your readings in our central Falmouth studio. We offer affordable, pay-as-you-go table rentals, 0% commission on walk-in appointments, and an excellent website, reviews and Google ranking. To top it off, we have a high footfall of visiting tourists, locals and students alike.

Located in the heart of the historic Old High Street, Basic Witch is part of the thriving community of Old Brewery Yard, home of Michelin Guide restaurant Mine, music venue Underland and the beloved Chintz bar. We exclusively provide readings to the Old Brewery Yard’s customers.

Our lovely “Tarot Parlour” benefits from the yard’s year-round footfall of University students, tourists and locals. Old Brewery Yard caters to hundreds of visitors each week, who cosy up in its eclectic, candlelit nightspots during winter or soak in its cosmopolitan atmosphere and outdoor terraces during summer. A consistent stream of visitors attend the yard’s lively music festivals, gigs, markets, and community events. Basic Witch sits in a prime position to cater to the pre and post dinner crowds!

If you are looking for a space from which to operate your practice, meet your clients and conduct your readings, we currently have availability for several afternoon and evening dates throughout the year. Prices start from just £5 per hour, with a minimum commitment of 3 hours per slot. We allocate regular slots to visiting guest readers who agree to attend at least one slot per week, else they forfeit their slot to another reader.

Just visiting? Subject to availability, we also welcome enquiries from established readers who live beyond Cornwall’s borders who are travelling to the region and would like to guest read at Basic Witch as a one-off appearance.

Private events & time extensions:

Private Events: For ticketed, private events and special occasions held at Old Brewery Yard - such as the popular Halloween and New Years Eve parties - we charge a table fee of £10 per hour with a minimum 3 hour slot from 8:00 PM - 11:00 PM.

Time Extensions: During busy evenings in your regular slot, you may extend your time beyond 8pm for an additional 90 minutes until 9.30pm, for a charge of £7.50.

Commission Rates & Fees

We generously offer a 0% commission on any walk-in appointments you receive from our loyal, returning customer base and passing footfall. Around two thirds of our customers are walk-ins. You are responsible for taking your own payments from clients using your own tap-2-pay mobile device or card reader.

For advanced reservations that we generate on your behalf via our website and marketing, we charge clients a non-refundable 20% reservation fee upon booking. The client pays the remainder of their fee to you directly on arrival at their appointment. This small commission enables us to pay for our website, marketing, and card payment costs incurred for reservations.

Facilities, Courses and Workshops

Our studio has access to the shared facilities of Outerspace Studios, Underland and The Chintz. These include free Wifi and a staff kitchenette and WC’s. Our readers can exclusively run their own courses and workshops from our attached workshop room, which has a large table for six people. For this additional service we charge a 20% non-refundable booking fee per person.


How to apply:

To guest as a reader, please email us (hello@basicwitch.co.uk) in the first instance to arrange a day to come in and see the space. We ask that you give us a short 5-10 minute reading during this visit, so that we can see what you plan to offer your clients.

Readers and instructors who hire our studio are not employees of Basic Witch, and as independent practitioners are solely responsible for their own liability insurance, client services, training and qualifications. Upon joining us, all practitioners and instructors must read and sign our Code of Ethics, agreeing to provide their services on our premises ethically, responsibly and professionally.
