We set up Basic Witch as a trusted destination for divination services. It’s a place where guest readers can benefit mutually from our established client base, sharing ideas and expertise, and the cost of a permanent, high street home for their practice.

Consider renting a table for your readings in our central Falmouth studio. We offer affordable, pay-monthly table rentals, 0% commission on walk-in appointments, simple booking system, and an excellent website, reviews and Google ranking. To top it off, we have a high footfall of visiting tourists, locals and students alike.

Located in the heart of the historic Old High Street, Basic Witch is part of the thriving community of Old Brewery Yard, home of Michelin Guide restaurant Mine, music venue Underland and the beloved Chintz bar. We exclusively provide readings to the Old Brewery Yard’s customers.

Our lovely “Tarot Parlour” benefits from the yard’s year-round footfall of University students, tourists and locals. Old Brewery Yard caters to hundreds of visitors each week, who cosy up in its eclectic, candlelit nightspots during winter or soak in its cosmopolitan atmosphere and outdoor terraces during summer. A consistent stream of visitors attend the yard’s lively music festivals, gigs, markets, and community events. Basic Witch sits in a prime position to cater to the pre and post dinner crowds!

If you are looking for a space from which to operate your practice, meet your clients and conduct your readings, we currently have availability for several afternoon and evening dates throughout the year. Prices start from just £5 per hour, with a minimum commitment of one five hour slot per week, paid monthly as a recurring subscription. Rates reflect the increased footfall at Old Brewery Yard during different time slots.

One-Off Appearances:

If you are unsure about committing to a regular slot, we offer a ONE-OFF GUEST SPOT on any available evening from 5-10PM for a fee of £40 (£8 p/hr). This is ideal for readers who are just visiting Cornwall and wish to cast some cards while they are here, or if you are new to professional tarot or divination services and want to test-run your practice. We will promote your event to our client base on our socials and handle any advanced bookings for you, but readers are ultimately responsible for marketing and promoting their own event for success. One-off guest spots are limited to one appearance only per month per reader.

Private events on-site & time extensions:

Private Events On-Site: For ticketed, private events and special occasions held at Old Brewery Yard - such as the popular Halloween and New Years Eve parties - we charge a table fee of £50 for table hire for the whole afternoon or evening, for the duration of the event. Ticketed events on site do not have reservations, so we do not take a commission. Anything you earn, you keep. These events benefit from an extremely high footfall.

Time Extensions: During exceptionally busy evenings in regular table-hire slots, you may extend your stay beyond your allocated timeslot for extra hours, if available (until midnight), for an additional charge of £8 per hour.

Marketing:

We market Basic Witch with search engine optimisation, flyers in local businesses, local business maps, and posts across our social media channels. Although the success of your business is down to you, our dedicated efforts towards promoting our brand benefits our guest readers who regularly pick up reservations and bookings that we generate on their behalf. However, it is ultimately your responsibility to build your client base and actively promote and market your services to prospective clients. What we provide is a space for you to conduct your divination practice. Please be mindful that we are not an agency sourcing you work… we are a venue where your practice can become established, grow, and thrive!

Commission Rates & Fees

We generously offer a 0% commission on any walk-in appointments you receive from our loyal, returning customer base and passing footfall. Around two thirds of our customers are walk-ins. You are responsible for taking your own payments from clients using your own tap-2-pay mobile device or card reader.

We charge clients a non-refundable reservation fee when they book through our website. This fee acts as our commission for arranging and managing the booking on your behalf. Our service prices are generally based on £1 per minute. For bookings with guest readers, the reservation fee (deposit) is:

• £5 for £15 / 15 Minute readings
• £10 for £30 / 30 Minute readings
• £15 for £45 / 45 Minute readings
• £20 for £60 / 1 Hour readings

If you wish to charge more than £1 a minute for your readings you are welcome to, based on a 30% commission rate.

After we have taken commission at booking, the remaining balance is paid directly to you by the client when they arrive for their appointment. Our commission covers the costs of running the website, booking system, marketing, admin, cancellations, and card processing needed to secure bookings on your behalf.

For off-site events and group bookings we charge a fixed 30% commission, plus any additional travel or accommodation costs beyond what is already included in the event rates.

Facilities:

Our studio has access to the shared facilities of Outerspace Studios, Underland and The Chintz. These include free Wifi and a staff kitchenette and WC’s.


How to apply:

To guest as a reader, please email us (hello@basicwitch.co.uk) in the first instance to arrange a day to come in and see the space. We ask that you give us a short 15 minute reading during this visit, so that we can get a taste of what you plan to offer your clients. We strongly encourage prospective guest readers to become familiar with the current offerings on our website, and to offer unique services that vary from what we already provide… such as original spreads, different divination methods or styles and skills not currently covered by our existing slate of readers.

Readers and instructors who hire our studio are not employees of Basic Witch, and as independent practitioners are solely responsible for their own liability insurance, client services, training and qualifications. Upon joining us, all practitioners and instructors must read and sign our Code of Ethics, agreeing to provide their services on our premises ethically, responsibly and professionally.
